Barb, her husband Joe, and their five children have lived in Crystal Lake since 1998. They are active members and volunteers at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Barbara's dedication to public service began when she graduated from college, first as a teacher, and then as a Peace Corps volunteer.
Barbara teamed up with novelist and screenwriter, Kristin Johnson. The pair is writing a screenplay on the notorious and wicked pirate ladies, Ann Bonny and Mary Read, and their adventures on the Curlew. Be prepared audience, this one will be rated...AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRR.
With the cooperation of professional writers, Barbara is currently rewriting her latest screenplay on the worst US Maritime disaster, Sultana, to be prepared for a feature film.
Barbara's third screenwriting project is another action-adventure based on the tragic and dangerous events occurring on the Gulf of Aden, off the coast of Somalia and Yemen. The collapse of the Somali government in 1991 left a power vacuum in a country made up of various clans and warlords and turned its land and sea into virtually lawless areas. Pirates have attacked more than 120 vessels so far this year(2008) off Somalia’s coast and in the Gulf of Aden on the way to and from the Suez Canal, a route used by 20,000 ships a year carrying a tenth of the world’s trade. Navy ships, U.N. resolutions and global meetings have yet to stop the pirates and have left the world asking who these brazen pirates are. (Background information provided by Alarabiya News)
